About Big Yellow Bee.

Harvested from the nectar of local plants, our honey is proudly made by mayan bees in the Yucatan Peninsula. There are no added products in our honey, only the work of our friends, the bees. We are passionate about the subject, and care about providing real honey, which is why our honey is certified by The Honey Authenticity Project.

Yucatan is a land with a long and storied history regarding bees. Mayans were renown for their relationship with bees, to the point were they were considered avatars of humanity, and examples of the ideal society. That is why they called bees people, too. This cultural relationship with bees means that we are the descendants of a long line of ancient wisdom and established beekeeping traditions. Ethical beekeeping is in our culture.

We are proud of who we are and what we do, we are proud of our traditions and our beliefs. We believe in working with the land, in being close to our family and friends, in being honest, respectful, and real. There is no pretense in what we do, only an honest love for our work and products.

We live in a land marked by beekeeping heritage and long-established traditions, which have paved the way for what we do; but we are also a family business. Our family and friends have been working with honey for three generations, and have gotten very good at what we do. We blend our traditional knowledge with modern techniques and technology to ensure the best possible honey... and trust us, we know good honey. After all, we grew up with it.

We work with our beekeeper friends around the Yucatan peninsula to harvest natural honey from local flora. This means that we can do good for people (both human and bees), culture, and the environ- ment. Beekeeping is a natural trade that can help rescue dwindling bee populations, while reforesting the land, providing employment for our partners, and keeping beekeeping traditions alive. Truly a wonderful practice.

Honey is a product that has kept us connected to our community, to local beekeepers and beekeeping traditions. But it also makes us keenly aware of the fact that we are connected to everything. Through the bees we can see the balance in the universe, how ev- erything affects everything else, and how we need to work hard to keep that balance, both in our society and in our planet.

We are ceremonies and rock and roll, the rituals of yesterday and the experimentation of today. We are the capacity to look back, to bring the best of the past to the present, in order to bring about a better, more balanced, future.

A story about the joy of understanding that we are all a part of the same great universe, and we must work together to keep this balance alive.
